The Reason the DNC is Hiding their Post-Mortem Report on the 2024 Race: The Inside Story.

This decision from the DNC to block the public viewing regarding its own post-election analysis concerning the 2024 election seems remarkable yet to be expected. Opposed to hard truths, the Democrats' governing body often functions more like a publicity machine rather than a political organization committed to building a volunteer base capable of prevailing at the polls.

A Culture of Conformity

Unwilling to break with the party establishment's culture demanding unity, the DNC has continued within the Biden-Harris shadow all through 2025. Making public such a report would have indicated that the leadership are interested to foster public discourse regarding the missteps that paved the way for the former president to win re-election. Instead, the leadership is moving forward as if there is little to be learned from the stunning loss of 2024.

"Here’s our North Star: is this good for winning elections? If not, it becomes a sideline issue from the core mission," an explanation reportedly given to justify concealing the report.

Critical Problems an Autopsy Would Have Addressed

Any valuable post-mortem with any value would confront certain uncomfortable matters. These include:

  • Electoral Disengagement: The loss of a significant portion of the electorate who voted for the party's candidate in 2020 proved pivotal in the narrowly decided recent race.
  • The Insistence to Run: The unwavering choice of a party leader to stay in the race, and a last-minute exit, is viewed as robbing Democratic voters the chance for open primaries.
  • Failing Everyday Americans: During a time of inflation, the campaign reportedly bowing to corporate donors' interests while failing to confront the effects of big business.
  • The Foreign Policy Impact: The refusal to shift a stance concerning the situation in Gaza reportedly led to losing significant blocs, notably among young people, Arab-Americans, and Muslim Americans.
  • Losing Youth Support: Polling data indicates a significant drop-off in votes for the candidate from voters aged 18-29.

A History of Evasion

This refusal is consistent with a longstanding habit of sidestepping difficult realities. It recalls an episode in which nearly all elected Democrat in Congress acquiesced to a sitting president's decision for running for re-election until a disastrous public debate performance led to a change.

Concurrently, a significant majority of Democratic voters had been repeatedly informing researchers that they opposed that candidate to be the nominee.

Financial Questions

A thorough report could investigate issues about financial allocations, such as the amounts flowed to party strategists and ad buyers during an electoral effort that burned through a colossal amount in a short period.

A Broader Problem

At its core, the blockage regarding the analysis is symptomatic of a submission toward the existing power structure who engineered a losing electoral effort. The signal for the party's base – including countless small donors – is that they do not have a right to see the lessons the insiders have learned from a report compiled from conversations with insiders.

An organization incapable to publicly examine its own failings will struggle to climb out of the rut that ended up being so beneficial to their opponents.
